Khiron Life Sciences Corp (OTCMKTS:KHRNF) has been granted import licenses and authorization by the Directorate General of Drug Supplies and Drugs. The licenses permit to import and commercialization of the company’s high-CBD, full-spectrum medical marijuana products to Peru from Khiron Columbia.
Khiron Peru receives importation license for medical cannabis products
According to Khiron Peru Country Manager, Luis Marquez, following the successful completion of all import licensing and distribution authorization, the company will now bring its full-spectrum CBD products to Peru. Marquez noted that through its experienced management in Lima and its distribution partner, Farmacial Universal they are in a better position to offer patients in Peru access to high-quality medical cannabis therapies. They anticipate meeting the necessary commercialization requirement for THC medical marijuana products in Q4 2020.
Peru permits registered pharmaceutical companies with Good Storage Practices certification to participate in wholesale importation and commercialization of pot products. Interestingly Khiron Peru has GSP certification and is a registered pharmaceutical entity. On the other hand, Farmacia Universal has all the necessary permits that include Good Manufacturing Practice certification to distribute medical cannabis products to patients via pharmacies.
Khiron to fill first prescriptions on Q3 2020
Following the DIGEMID’s grant of final licenses as well as necessary authorization, Khiron Peru becomes an authorized establishment that will import high-CBD full-spectrum medical cannabis products from Khiron Columbia. Already Khiron Columbia has received authorization from the Narcotics Nations Fund to export its products to Peru. Khiron expects the first prescriptions to be filled from Q3 2020.
Alvaro Torres, the Director, and CEO of Khiron indicated that the entry into the medical cannabis space in Peru shows the company’s dedication to meeting the needs of patients in Latin America and across the globe. Torres indicated that Khiron is so far the only company to dispense medical marijuana to patients in Columbia and has surpassed 1,000 patient prescriptions. He added that the development amid the COVID-19 pandemic is a huge milestone for the company.
